Cleaning Hack of the Week: 5 Uses For a Can of Cola
We all know a can of cola is a refreshing drink, goes great with pizza, can be used in delicious cocktails, ice cream floats, and more…but did we know it also doubles as a highly effective cleaning agent? Here are 5 ways to use cola to clean:
1. Hard to remove toilet stains. Over time, even a clean toilet can begin to discolor with age. Put some cola in a spray bottle, spray in the bowl and let sit for a while. Scrub clean and flush, then finish with your normal disinfectant.
2. Remove rust from hand tools. Let your rusty tools soak in cola overnight or up to 24 hours. Remove and scrub with a scouring pad. Repeat as needed.
3. Cleaning stained grout lines. The toilet isn't the only place in the bathroom that can benefit from a can of your favorite cola. Take a spray bottle and a toothbrush to lighten old grout lines.
4. Removing stains from carpet or clothing. Whether your kid took a marker to the carpet, or you got a grease stain cooking dinner, the humble can of cola can bail you out. Use a small amount on a toothbrush to scrub the stain. Then scrub with soap and water, or, run your normal laundry cycle.
5. Degreasing kitchen pits and pans. This one requires a little prep but it's worth it. If you have a particularly sticky pot, pour some cola in it and throw it on the stovetop on low. Let it sit for 30 minutes, (or however long it takes you to enjoy your meal. Then when you're ready to clean up, you won't have to scrub for hours.
5 great uses for something you probably have already. Plus when you're done, you can cool down with the can you've got left!
