Three Ways To Clean Jewelry
When cleaning your home, it is obvious to focus on cleaning, scrubbing and disinfecting the floors, windows, countertops, etc. Sometimes the walls and ceilings even need a cleaning! But what about cleaning your belongings, like jewelry? We all know that jewelry and watches get dirty and tarnished, but how best to approach cleaning those items? It depends on the type of jewelry!
For durable jewelry, scrubbing with an old toothbrush and toothpaste is is a great way to restore polish and shine.
For delicate jewelry, try soaking for no longer than ten minutes in in cola.
For tarnished silver, line the inside of a bowl with tin foil. Sprinkle baking soda and salt on the tin foil and fill the bowl with warm water. Place your silver jewelry in the bowl and make sure it is touching the foil. This creates a chemical reaction which will cause the tarnish to transfer from the silver, onto the foil.
After any of these methods, be sure to rinse your jewelry thoroughly to remove any residue.
