Green Cleaning: White Vinegar

In an increasingly environmentally-conscious world, the demand for "green" cleaning methods is ever increasing. So today we will be looking at an excellent, eco-friendly alternative to products you probably use already. Now, we have already covered some green cleaning methods (see our post on vodka spray). But there's always more to know. Here is our first tip to make your cleaning routine more eco friendly: utilize white vinegar as a primary ingredient in your homemade cleaning agents.

White vinegar can be mixed with water to make an excellent cleaning solution. Naturally, the more water you add, the less potent it will be…but even a 50/50 mixture can be a very effective sanitization spray. For a fresh, pleasantly scented cleaner, steep orange or lemon peels in your solution for a week to 10 days. If you need to disinfect, additional products will be needed, but white vinegar is a versatile, inexpensive and eco-friendly item that serves a wide variety of cleaning needs. It can even be used to unclog drains or as a natural weed killer!
